Barton singer James Millier releases Valentine’s Day song Forever Counterparts inspired by parents’ love story

BARTON singer-songwriter James Millier has released a Valentine’s Day single inspired by his parents’ love story.

James, who has amassed a huge 312,000 Spotify streams, says his parents have been an “incredible inspiration” to him throughout his music career and he felt compelled to write a track just for them. The song, Forever Counterparts, is available to download on iTunes or Spotify.

James said: “My parents are actually quite shy about publicity so I record my music under a stage name. But when I told them about the song they were very touched by it. I wanted them to feel comfortable so I spoke to them before it was recorded and they were very pleased.”

James, has previously appeared in the X Factor, and also sang with Welsh choir The Phoenix. However, after trying out many musical styles he felt his songwriting and voice were best suited to country-style music.

In 2020 James joined forces with a number of other international recording artists for a charity single which reached number 96 in the official download charts.

Now he’s hoping his latest song will achieve similar success. James explained: ”Forever Counterparts is inspired by my parents who were married for 21 years, and were separated for 21 years, then got married again. They have now been together for nine years.

“There are lots of love songs out there but I feel it’s nice to have a song about a couple that perhaps came back together after a break-up. I’m very close to my mum and dad so I wanted to write a song to show them how important they are to me.

“I genuinely think this love song story really tells the tale that even when you break up with someone who you love it doesn’t mean it is the end of your relationship.”

The song was co-written with US-based producer/music artist Dominic Romano, who wrote the music to fit with James’s lyrics. The song was the mixed and mastered by Will Davies who is based in Four Marks, near Winchester, at his Sutton Wood Studio.

Forever Counterparts is available to download on iTunes from today (Friday). To find out more visit www.jamesmilliermusic.com
