Bashley FC announce new sponsor and ground name
BASHLEY FC have announced that Paul Lucas as their new sponsor. The ground will also be renamed from the Bashley Road Stadium to the Glen Mex Stadium.
Paul is a director of several specialist construction and finance companies. He is a chartered surveyor with construction qualifications; FCA regulated and a member of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, and a football fanatic.
Originally from Watford, Paul moved to the New Forest in 2002 and now lives in the Ringwood area.
Football is very much part of the Lucas tradition, Paul’s great-grandfather played for Watford while his father was with Tottenham Hotspur from 1966 to 1969.
On moving to Ringwood, Paul was introduced to Wessex League football and sponsored the Wessex Division One club for a few seasons.
After a chance meeting with Bashley FC’s chief steward Iain Roberts, Paul attended several matches, leading to sponsorship discussions.
This became a reality soon after Covid-19 struck when Paul saw the loyalty and determination of the club’s management, supporters, and players to weather the storm.
Bashley Football Club expressed their gratitude to the Bashley Village Hall management committee for their support with the ground rent during such difficult times.
The Bashley Road Stadium will be renamed the Glen Mex Stadium in honour of Paul’s son who died in infancy.
Paul said that he could not think of a better area or more suitable club for this tribute to the memory of his son.
He added he is looking forward to the future and hopes that his support will be of benefit to all associated with the club.
