Hampshire Senior Cup: Hartley Wintney 3-4 Bashley FC

THREE Harrys got on the scoresheet as Bashley FC kept their Hampshire Senior Cup run going with a 4-3 win at Hartley Wintney.

On a bitter evening, Bashley got off to a perfect start when striker Harry McGrath was played in on goal and slammed home on six minutes.

The visitors doubled their lead four minutes later when Bunce latched onto a Conor Whiteley long ball and was clinical in his finish, leaving Hartley’s keeper Williams no chance.

Hartley found their feet in the game and started to get on the front foot. Just after the half-hour mark, they had their chance to get back level when they were awarded a penalty.

French fired the ball past the Bashley keeper Harry Gravett to reduce the deficit before half-time.

In the second half, Hartley continued to grow in confidence and found themselves level on 57 minutes as Platt got on the scoresheet. However, Bash pulled ahead once again shortly after the equaliser.

Harry Morgan pounced on a defensive lapse, and his finish squirmed under Williams to give the visitors a 3-2 lead. The ding-dong battle continued, and for the second time in the game, Hartley got back on level terms as Ball headed in from a Smith delivery.

But it was Bashley who had the last say as Billy Cooper played in Bunce who returned for his second on 87 minutes. Harry McGrath had a penalty well saved in added time, but Bashley came away with the victory to extend their cup run.

Bashley travel to promotion-pushing Hamble Club tomorrow in the Sydenhams Premier division.

Bashley: Gravett, Betts, Smith, Browning, Morris, Strickland, Bunce, Ross, Whiteley, Morgan, McGrath. Used Subs: Cooper, Crowe.
