Bidders looking to walk away with the White Horse Inn

A GRADE II listed pub in Milford is set to go under the hammer next week after sitting vacant for almost two years.

The White Horse on Keyhaven Road, is one 170 lots which will be auctioned off by Clive Emson at the sale in Whiteley, near Fareham, on Friday 13th September.

The pub, which is currently owned by Enterprise Inns, was run by three different landlords in the two years leading up to its closure in December 2017.

As reported in the A&T, a planning application to build four houses on derelict land behind it was unanimously refused as "cramped" by New Forest District Council’s planning committee this year.

On sale as a freehold property with a guide price of £390,000 to £410,000, the pub features an open-plan bar area, rear function room, commercial kitchen, ladies and gents toilets, a store room and beer cellar.

The first floor of the building is set out as living accommodation with three bedrooms, a kitchen, study, living room, bathroom and toilet.

Rob Marchant, auctioneer, said: “This is a well-known pub on an extensive plot of 0.43 acres including a beer garden, play area and car park.

“There may be scope for alternative use, subject to the necessary consents.”

The White Horse is being auctioned jointly with Savills of Southampton.

Starting at 11am, the auction will take place on Friday 13th September at the Solent Hotel and Spa, Rookery Avenue, Whiteley, near Fareham.
