Community groups backing three villages bike ride around Pennington, Sway and Brockenhurst following ‘Tube’ style map

CYCLISTS from three New Forest villages will take part in a mass cycle ride in a bid to raise awareness of the need for safe routes.

The ‘three villages bike ride’ will see cyclists from Pennington, Sway and Brockenhurst getting in the saddle on 15th June to coincide with Father’s Day.

Riders will follow Transition Lymington’s ‘Tube’-style map of proposed cycle-friendly routes, departing from St Mark’s community hall in Pennington at 3pm to follow route A. There will be an optional bike check at the hall before the ride begins at 2pm.

Those on route B will depart from Brockenhurst Primary School at 3.15pm. Riders on both routes will meet at Sway village hall by around 4pm for tea and cake.

Organisers said: “We’re raising awareness of safe cycle routes between our villages and across the New Forest, using the cycle ‘Tube’ map. It’s also Father’s Day so bring your dad.”

The ride, which includes off road sections, is suitable for riders aged nine to 16 if they are accompanied by an adult, and participants are urged to wear helmets.

The event coincides with the Great Big Green Week and Bike Week 2025, supported by Eco Sway, Greener Brockenhurst, Transition Lymington, and Pennington Community Action Group.
