Motorcyclist badly hurt in crash with BMW during large car meet at Hengistbury Head, which had sparked a police dispersal order

A MOTORCYCLIST was badly hurt in a crash during a large car meet at a Christchurch beauty spot, complaints about which prompted a dispersal order.

The collision involving the biker and a BMW happened at Hengistbury Head around 7.45pm on Easter Sunday – about an hour after police first responded to reports of anti-social driving among some at the gathering.

Officers enforced a Section 35 dispersal order, empowering them to order anyone seen acting in an anti-social manner or posing a risk to other road users to leave the area.

An air ambulance was among paramedic teams that responded, along with police.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Oxfordshire, was taken by land ambulance to Poole Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place while officers carried out investigations at the scene.

The car meet had dispersed from the car park by around 9pm.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said afterwards: “We fully recognise that incidents such as this can cause concern and disruption to local residents, and we will continue to respond promptly to reports of this nature to reduce any impact on the local community.

“We are working with our partner agencies to identify longer-term solutions to prevent anti-social behaviour at the location.”

A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene.

“We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
