Evo-Stik League South Div 1: Blackfield & Langley 4-1 Larkhall Athletic

Blackfield & Langley were able to capitalise on an unexpected Yate Town loss to go top of the league with seven games remaining this season.

Two goals from Lerone Plumber and Liam Robinson helped Blackfield to a 4-1 victory leaving them in pole position.

Early lead

Blackfield went ahead as Plummer was fouled inside the box. Plummer’s penalty was saved by Larkhall keeper Shaun Semmens, but Robinson was able to turn in the rebound after five minutes.

The home side maintained their advantage going into the break despite several chances for Athletic.

Clinical finishing

A determined Blackfield doubled their lead as Plummer fired home to make up for his penalty miss earlier. However, Larkhall’s continued pressure paid dividends two minutes later as Lewis Powell tucked away a penalty on 50 minutes.

Plummer grabbed another midway the second half and the game was sealed with a stunning strike from Robinson late in injury time.

Yate Town were unable to keep up with Blackfield in the league as they dropped points to 19th placed Barnstaple Town. A late goal from Saddam Bello gave the hosts the victory which leaves Yate a point behind in second.

Blackfield will travel to Bideford this week and look to maintain their top spot before facing off against title chasers Yate Town on 6th April.
