Blood test service to launch at New Forest pharmacy in Milford

Blood test services are set to be launched at a Milford pharmacy from Monday following feedback from a community survey.

The new phlebotomy clinic will be run by New Forest Pharmacy based at the Milford on Sea War Memorial Hospital site. It will be open to anyone aged 16 or over who has been asked to take a blood test and has the necessary medical paperwork.

Located next door to Milford Medical Centre, the clinic will initially operate on Mondays before extending to a five day a week service later in the year.

The clinic has been introduced in response to a 2022 survey undertaken by the Milford on Sea League of Friends Health Hub.

Chair Mary Rutherford said: “Our survey identified the provision of locally provided blood tests to be a service of ‘great importance’ to our local community’. We are delighted to report we have been listened to.

“This is great news for our local communities and will hopefully make a very positive contribution to the healthcare provision for our residents.”

Interim Deputy Hampshire Place Director, Catherine Bowell, added: “This service is coming into place following feedback from residents.

“This is wonderful news for patients, who will receive blood testing services more locally and in a familiar place.”
