Bournemouth bombarded by brilliant Bashley bowling

OPENING bowlers Bradley Currie and Dan Goodey came to Bashley CC's rescue once again as they took all 10 wickets in their narrow 15-run win at the BCG.
Currie claimed his second six-wicket haul in as many weeks while Goodey took 4-34 as Bashley defended their poor first innings score of 108 by skittling out Bournemouth for 93.
Bashley skipper Michael Porter elected to bat after winning the toss. However, when Simon Woodruff removed openers Ben Walker and Phil Morris cheaply, the hosts started to rue the decision.
Tigers' bowler Dan Conway removed Porter to leave Bashley in trouble at 11-3, but middle-order batsmen Patrick Holly and Tom Friend started to rebuild the innings with a 38-run partnership before Holly went for eight.
Friend continued to anchor the Bashley innings with 45 from 61 balls which proved to be a match-winning knock in a low-scoring game. But Friend eventually fell victim to Robert Pack, who claimed four wickets from his 16.5 overs, as Bashley slumped to 71-6.
Wicketkeeper Patrick Lewis added a patient 21 late on, but Bashley were bowled out for a meagre 108 in 49.5 overs.
The hosts knew they had to take 10 wickets to win the game and they made a perfect start as Goodey pinned Nick Park LBW for five and removed Luke Webb for two caught behind.
Luke Matthews and Chris Park pushed the score onto 64 but just as Bournemouth started to look comfortable, Bashley's pace bowlers fought back. Currie sent Matthews back to the pavilion for 28 while wicketkeeper Lewis caught Park off Goodey.
The bowling tandem ripped through the Bournemouth middle-order. Goodey and Currie grabbed six wickets for three runs with the visitors collapsing to 67-8.
Only Edward Denham showed any resistance, but he was caught by Friend off Currie for a quick-fire 19 as Bournemouth were bowled out for 93, 15 runs short of their target. Currie finished as the pick of the bowlers with 6-18 off his scintillating 13.2 overs.
Table-toppers Bashley will travel to second placed South Wilts in the Southern Premier League on Saturday.
