Barton police patrols after break-in reports lead to cannabis offence detentions
THREE men were detained on suspicion of cannabis use as police patrolled Barton in response to recent reported burglaries.
Local officers discovered a suspicious vehicle parked up in the village, where several home break-ins took place over the past month.
Although not linked to those offences, they noticed a strong smell of the class B substance coming from the car.
The three occupants were detained under the Misuse of Drugs Act before two of them, both aged 19, received community resolution disposals on condition they attend a drug diversion course.
Vowing patrols would continue, a police Facebook post said: “We ask that local residents please take the time to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or noises – such as ladders being moved – to police, with as much detail as possible, such as clothing descriptions, or colours and makes of vehicles.”
Anyone with information should contact Hampshire police on 101, but 999 should always be dialled if a crime is in progress.
