Brockenhurst U15 on the brink after derby demolition of Lymington

WITH three games left to play this season Brockenhurst Youth U15s are on the verge of securing a Bournemouth league title after a comfortable derby day victory away at Lymington Sprites.

A point in one of their final three fixtures will be enough to see The Badgers crowned U15 champions.

A bitter northerly was blowing around The Sports Ground prior to kick-off and having won the toss, Brockenhurst elected to play with the wind in the first half.

Two simple and well taken goals from Reuben Howard and Carlos Carbayo Borges settled the league leaders’ nerves and with George Newman solid as a rock in goal behind a dependable back four, Brock always looked comfortable and took a 2-0 lead into the break.

It was in the second half that Brock really took control of the game with their simple passing and possession football offering a masterclass in game management in tricky conditions.

Their patience paid off on the hour mark. After a fine passing move on the right involving five players, Bill Hillier released Howard down the wing who looked up and played a first-time pinpoint cross to Carbayo-Borges who finished neatly from close range.

With ten minutes to go, Howard scored a fine individual goal after a beautifully cushioned lay-off from Nick Bradford released him down the middle. His pace and balance was too much for Lymington to handle and his clever dinked finish rounded off a mature and confident performance from The Badgers and took them to within touching distance of the title.
