Hythe and Waterside Rotary raise funds for Totton youngster Tommy Holmes who suffers from CAMK2A
HYTHE and Waterside Rotary Club will dish out cash from a fundraising Indian cuisine night to support a child with a rare genetic condition.
Rotarians pledged to donate £200 to help buy a buggy for five-year-old Tommy Holmes who suffers from genetic condition CAMK2A which delays growth and causes seizures and intellectual impairment.
A spokesperson for the Rotarians said: “Tommy lives with this very rare condition and his mum Gayle contacted us about the charity night we are holding.
“CAMK2A causes rare gene mutations which result in severe neurodevelopmental disorders and affect all aspects of learning.
“Tommy’s family, who live in Totton, need to raise £1,000 to buy an outdoor buggy to help Tommy live as normal a life as possible and they asked for our support, which we are delighted to give.”
The Rotarians’ Indian buffet evening, including a DJ and raffle, will take place on Saturday 8th October.
