Plan for bungalow on Cooks Lane, Calmore, to be demolished for over-50s flats

AN application has been submitted to build a block of 12 flats for the over-50s in Totton.

The proposals submitted to New Forest District Council have the appearance of two "traditional" houses.

A large bungalow, Lorraine, in Cooks Lane, Calmore, would be demolished to make way for the new homes.

Concerns were raised by NFDC planning officers that the original application would be out of keeping with the existing street scene.

In response, Lyndhurst-based developers Cooks Mews Ltd changed its original proposal to resemble a row of terraced houses.

To help it blend in, an existing block wall at the site would be replaced with a post and rail fence with shrubs.

There would be eight two-bedroom apartments and one four-bedroom. A total of 15 car parking space will be created along with 12 cycle spaces.

A decision will be made later.
