Burton Youth U15 boys progress to BYFL final
BURTON Youth U15 showcased their tactical discipline and counter attacking prowess to progress to the BYFL Cup final after defeating last year’s winners Kings Park Dynamos 4-2.
Going into the semi-final as underdogs, the Burton boys showed they were prepared for the battle from the first whistle and deservedly took the lead after a pearl of a goal from Lewis Hedley.
Burton were well organised in defence and conceded very little to the cup holders and they were able to counter attack effectively and the first half came to an end with the score still at 1-0.
The Dynamos boys came out with renewed determination and starting driving forwards showcasing their technical abilities. Despite this, it was Burton’s tactical accuracy that gained them a superb second goal with a classic counter attacking move finished off by Jack Francis.
In reply Kings Park demonstrated why they were last year’s winners with an impressive reaction to score the next goal to make it 2-1 within 15 minutes of the second half.
However, with an even more impressive reaction, Burton replied immediately to re-establish their two goal advantage after another superb finish from number 10 Tyler Barnett.
The Kings Park players never gave up but they were powerless to break down the Burton backline. The match was put to bed when Ryan Lilly finished off a move that began with a powerful raid on the right wing to the delight of the Burton fans.
Dynamos scored a late second that proved to be nothing but a consolation as Burton sealed their place in this year’s final.
