Bus link from Highcliffe to Christchurch Sainsbury's to return

A BUS link from Highcliffe to Sainsbury's in Somerford is to be reinstated from May.

Residents were dismayed when the handy route stopped running after Yellow Buses went bust last year.

Now Morebus has announced it is bringing back the popular supermarket link.

Morebus said it will return in May using the existing X1 and X2 routes which will go to Sainsbury’s when they reach the Hoburne roundabout, then on to Bournemouth from there.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Morebus is working on its summer timetable changes at the moment, and this link will be reinstated at the end of May.

"Details will be on the Morebus website nearer the time.”

Highcliffe and Walkford councillor Andy Martin said he was “delighted” the route would be running again, saying: “A lot of residents in Highcliffe who do not drive have been asking for this back, so I am really grateful to Richard Wade, the general manager of Morebus, and his team for listening to our requests.

“Its brilliant news for the community.”
