Yacht dragging anchor near Beaulieu River one of two calls in 24 hours for Calshot RNLI




CALSHOT RNLI rescuers had a busy 24 hours, with calls to help find a missing person and assist a stricken yacht.

The first alert was to help with a search and rescue operation in the Southampton area around 9.25am on Tuesday morning.

D Class lifeboat David Radcliffe launched to take part before the crew was stood down after three hours on the water.

Then, at 2.20am on Wednesday morning there was a call-out to a 34ft yacht dragging its anchor near the Beaulieu River.

Yarmouth RNLI cleared the obstruction before Calshot’s Atlantic 85 B Class Lifeboat Max Walls towed the vessel and its two occupants to safety further up the river. The operation took just over five hours.
