People were urged to find an alternative route while Southern Water dealt with the issue, which covered the road’s entire width.

But at 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday), HCC announced the closure had been lifted.

In an online post, a spokesperson said: “The road is now open as the repair has been completed by our highways team.”
