Pony round-ups will see closure of New Forest car parks and cycle routes




MORE New Forest car parks and cycle routes will temporarily shut this week during the annual pony round-ups.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) the parking will be closed at Latchmoor, near Hyde, and around Brockenhurst at Shirley Holms, Longslade View, Longslade Bottom and Setley Pond.

The old railway line section of the cycle route near Brockenhurst will all be shut for the duration of the drift.

On Friday, car parks will be closed at Culverley, Beaulieu Road, Yew Tree Heath, Northgate and Kings Hat.

On Sunday there will be car park closures at Beaulieu Aerodrome, Beaulieu Heath, Ranswood, Bull Hill, Crockford, Stockley and Norleywood.

The cycle routes will also be shut at Ranswood to Hawkhill and Beaulieu Aerodrome, Roundhill and Ladycross.

A spokesperson for the verderers said; "The drifts are an essential part of the management of the Forest herd. For their own safety, members of the public are urged to look out for the warning signs and avoid the area of the drift on the planned dates.

"Please respect the temporary car park closures, use an alternative car park and please do not block gateways or verge park."
