West Cliff Hall in Hythe rated “good” across the board by CQC inspectors

A CARE home in Hythe has been rated ‘good’ across the board following its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Following a site visit over six days last month, West Cliff Hall in West Street was judged in the areas of safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness, and leadership.

Inspectors said the assessment was prompted by “concerns about staffing shortages” and incidents reported by the provider to the local authority and CQC.

But they wrote: “Following this inspection we were assured by the arrangements in place to keep people safe.

“During our inspection we found the service had made improvements and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations.

“The rating has changed from ‘requires improvement’, as published in January 2021, to ‘good’.”

Describing life at the home, which had 53 residents at the time of the inspection, CQC officers wrote: “People told us they were safe at West Cliff Hall.

“People and their relatives told us ways the service had improved, providing examples of their personal experience.

“Comments included, ‘I think it’s a well looked after place and they look after me well’, and ‘The staff here always ask me to wear my buzzer, when I press it, they come quickly’.”
