Residents at Colten Care’s Woodpeckers home join in Wear A Hat Day to support Brain Tumour Research




A CARE home raised money for Brain Tumour Research by taking part in the charity’s Wear a Hat Day.

People living at Colten Care’s Woodpeckers home in Brockenhurst took part in a series of fun activities and community engagement as part of the annual fundraiser.

Residents and took part in hat-making workshops and tried to outdo each other with Royal Ascot-style creations, in the process raising £120.

A six-hour hat swap relay challenge was held, and residents went on a minibus trip to Calshot wearing their fancy head gear.

Woodpeckers’ companionship team leader Jane Bunker said: “Wearing a hat reminds us of those who have been personally affected by cancer. Wear a Hat Day is a great way to raise awareness and precious funds for research.”

According to Brain Tumour Research, brain cancer kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
