Carpathia Grange care home in Hythe installs its own pub

PUBS may still be shut to indoor drinkers but residents of a care home in Hythe are able to raise a glass after their very own pub bar was installed.

Carpathia Grange in Hythe built The Carpathia Arms, complete with beer taps, bartenders, sport on TV and music.

The pub has been a huge hit with residents, some of whom have stepped in to pull pints themselves.

Resident Ann Spencer said that she “loved calling last orders at the bar” during her time at the pumps.

Pooja Dhoot, home manager at Care UK’s Carpathia Grange, said: “We feel incredibly lucky to have our own Carpathia Arms here at the home fully open.

“For residents, the pub is associated with a lot of happy memories from their younger years, from going out with friends to pub quizzes to Sunday lunches."

She added: “In addition to a great selection of drinks, the Carpathia Arms provides an opportunity for reminiscence for many of the residents too.”

The 62-room care home, which provides dementia and nursing care, also boasts a cinema, hair salon and cafe.
