South Central Ambulance Service’s hazardous area response team attended, along with a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle.

Two people were treated at the scene while the fire crews dispersed the gas.

An SCAS spokesperson told the A&T only one casualty was understood to have gone to hospital.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to a holiday park on Sway Road, New Milton, at 10am after a number of chemicals were mixed together.

“Crews used ventilation fans to remove the subsequent gas before monitoring the air to check the levels were safe.

“The incident was handed back to onsite staff before the stop message came in at 1.26pm.”

Police were informed of the incident by SCAS around 11.25am, according to a Hampshire force spokesperson who said their attendance was not required.

The A&T has contacted Hoburne Holidays for a comment.

An online post by Hoburne Bashley this morning confirmed its main club complex has reopened but the indoor pool remained closed.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience,” the post said.
