Chewton Glen applies for thousands of revellers to park at Fawcett's Field for New Milton gigs by stars including Michael Buble

THOUSANDS of revellers attending gigs by international music stars including Michael Buble at New Milton’s Chewton Glen hotel could park at a nearby sports ground.

Mr Buble is one of four hit acts set to stage outdoor concerts in the five-star luxury hotel’s grounds, off the A337 Christchurch Road, in July. The others are Olly Murs, McFly and Tears for Fears.

The town council’s amenities committee received a request that up to 2,000 cars be allowed to park at Fawcett's Field for each of the four events.

Chair Cllr Geoff Blunden said: “If they’re thinking 2,000 cars per day for four days, that’s 8,000 cars, which is quite an ask.”

Cllr Blunden added council officers would discuss the land’s availability and appropriate charges with Chewton Glen staff, with a site meeting arranged for the following week.

The exclusive Chewton Glen hotel has hosted many concerts by big names in music over the years, including Elton John, Rick Astley and Gary Barlow.
