A35 Christchurch bypass closure after serious incident involving cyclist

A section of the Christchurch bypass was closed this afternoon after a crash involving a cyclist.

Dorset Police were called at just after 12.45pm today (Friday) by the ambulance service asking for help as it treated a male cyclist in need of medical attention on the eastbound carriageway of the A35 between Purewell Cross and Somerford roundabouts.

“Officers are in attendance and road closures are in place,” a Dorset Police spokesperson added.

The incident caused heavy congestion around Purewell Cross roundabout, and the road reopened by 2pm.
