Christchurch denied maximum points by Fareham keeper
CHRISTCHURCH harvested a point in a 2-2 draw at a damp, cold and blustery Fareham Town last weekend.
Priory started positively and went close when a Satterley volley was well saved by Creeksiders keeper McCarthy. The excellent save was the first of many he was forced to make. He tipped the ball behind to deny King and then made another brilliant low diving save to thwart Satterley again.
Very much against the run of play, Fareham took the lead on 23 minutes when Christchurch lost midfield possession and Woods dribbled his way into the penalty box before placing a low shot past Tewkesbury and in off the right-hand post.
Christchurch equalised four minutes later when substitute Will Prior tapped a cross from King into the net from close range.
A minute later Moody denied King with an excellent clearance off the line and just before the interval Christchurch took the lead when Shaun Prentice tapped in an easy rebound after the impressive McCarthy lost control of the wet greasy ball.
On the hour mark, Fareham made it 2-2 when Priory keeper Tewkesbury let Pople’s whipped free kick slip from his grasp and Moody pounced to tap the ball in the centre of the net from two yards out.
Christchurch had several winning chances that were well saved by McCarthy to keep Fareham on level terms.
