Christchurch rower Reece pulls in thousands for NHS

BARTON teenager Reece Brewster has decided to give back to NHS hospitals in Christchurch and Bournemouth after fundraising for a 50km row.

Reece, who is a member of Christchurch Rowing Club, raised more than £2,300 for the cause after the demanding challenge. The indoor row was streamed on Instagram live where Reece crossed the finish line seven minutes before his four-hour target.

Reece told the A&T: “The 50km row seemed like an easy feat when I first planned to do it, the week before, but I soon realised it was going to be a lot harder and longer than I expected.

“Fortunately, I had the encouragement of people watching and the knowledge that I was raising for a good cause to keep me going. I finished the row with a handful of new blisters.”

Reece added that he was appreciative of all the donors’ generosity: “By the end of the challenge, with the support of my family, friends and even anonymous donators, we had raised over £2,300.

“The Go Fund Me page is still open, and I am extremely grateful for the donations that keep coming in, even after the actual event.”
