Christchurch man arrested on suspicion of murder following altercation in Exeter
A CHRISTCHURCH man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a person died following an alleged altercation in Exeter.
Police detained the 19-year-old, along with three others, after responding along with paramedics to reports of a disturbance in Sidwell Street shortly after 8pm on Saturday night.
The incident resulted in a man in his 40s suffering a chest wound, from which he later died in hospital.
Another 19-year-old, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The remaining pair, a 29-year-old woman from Exeter and a 32-year-old man from Exmouth, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
Witnesses and dash cam footage are being sought as the Devon & Cornwall force continues its investigations.
A force spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of an altercation in Sidwell Street, Exeter, at around 8.10pm on Saturday 28th January.
“Officers and paramedics attended and a man aged in his 40s was found having suffered a chest wound.
“He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. His next-of-kin have been informed.”
