Christchurch woman dies after New Year's Day crash on Christchurch Road in Bournemouth




A CHRISTCHURCH woman in her 80s who was seriously injured in a car crash on New Year's Day has now died.

As reported in the A&T, the incident, which involved a red Ford Focus and a black Honda Civic, happened on Christchurch Road in Bournemouth at the junction with Crabton Close Road just before 4pm.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries, but died last Thursday, a police spokesman said today (Tuesday).

Her family has been informed and the coroner notified.

A 36-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.

“We owe it to them to establish the full circumstances of this incident, and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.”
