CHRISTCHURCH drivers may be in for three weeks of traffic chaos in the town centre as a stretch of Bargates is closed from today.

BCP Council has said diversions will be in place on the B3073 from the junction with Stour Road and Fountain Roundabout, with electric cable repairs carried out by SSE until Monday 28th September at the latest.

Access is unaffected for residents and emergency services, but traffic will be diverted down Stour and Barrack roads. Parking is not permitted, nor waiting or loading/unloading at any time.

Yellow Buses has also revised its routes, with its Bargates and Christchurch stops out of action while the roadworks are in place. The nearest alternative stops are Christchurch High Street and Barrack Road (stop E).
