Collapsed sewer shuts the B3058 Milford Road in New Milton in both directions

A STRETCH of main road in New Milton has been shut in both directions “until further notice” as a result of a collapsed sewer.

Hampshire County Council announced the full closure of the B3058 Milford Road, between Barton Common Road and Barton Common Lane, shortly after 2am today (Tuesday).

It explained this was necessary due to the collapsed sewer covering the entire width of the road.

An HCC spokesperson said: “Southern Water is working to resolve the issue.

“Please avoid the area and find an alternative route wherever possible.”

Responding to one of the authority’s online posts, one person wrote: “About time. Reported numerous times as a danger to road users, forcing drivers onto the wrong side of the road to avoid the worst part.

“Let's hope they do a proper repair this time rather than a temporary one.”
