Home and business transformations praised at Ringwood Society Design and Conservation Awards
SKILL and attention to detail in revamping home and business properties were praised at a Ringwood heritage group’s annual awards.
The Design and Conservation awards, held by Ringwood Society, saw two gongs and a commendation presented by president Steve Rippon-Swaine and chairman Joe Moorhouse.
Jade and Richard Levell were among those honoured in the ceremony at the annual autumn open meeting at Greyfriars Community Centre.
They won best residential project for remodelling their Avonside House home – judged a testament to hard work and attention to detail.
Modern cladding was removed, traditional render reinstated and new sash windows installed.
The best commercial project award went to Rose & Lily Florals Ltd for its new signage and shopfront on Christchurch Road.
Zoe Wallis and Rebecca Galton took over the long-running business last year. The society said they brought a new look that blended the best of tradition with the best of contemporary graphics and colour palettes.
The new style was designed by Zoe’s sister Lily, and the signage was manufactured and installed by local company Letters & Logos.
Judging panel head and local chartered architect, Alex Bancroft, said: “Perhaps the toughest category this year was for the commercial award, with several businesses being considered.”
This led the society to award a commendation to Lindy Stuart Studio for the signage at its new premises, having relocated from Christchurch.
Judges felt the signage, produced by Signs of Distinction of Christchurch, embraced and was a key part of the shopping area’s renaissance.
Nominations for the 2025 Ringwood Society Design and Conservation Awards are now open.
