Marchwood cottage appeal is thrown out by NFDC

A PROPOSAL to build a detached home on land adjacent to a cottage has been turned down at appeal.

The owner of Cracknore Cottage in Cracknore Hard Lane, Marchwood, applied to New Forest District Council for permission to build the dwelling but the plan was rejected.

An appeal lodged against that decision with the Planning Inspectorate has now been dismissed.

Following a site visit, the planning inspector agreed with NFDC planners that the development would cause “material harm” to the area’s character and appearance.
