BCP Council seeking residents’ views on its visions for Christchurch

VIEWS of residents are being sought by BCP Council as part of a public consultation on what its new visions and priorities should be for local areas including Christchurch.

The council says it will prioritise people and communities by ensuring the most vulnerable receive the care they need to feel secure and supported and ensuring residents have good quality, sustainable and affordable homes.

It also plans to work with partners to reduce the impact of the rising cost of living, reinvent high streets, revitalise local communities and regenerate key sites, in addition to striving to be as self-sustaining as it can.

These suggestions will be used to inform a final plan that will be presented to the council’s cabinet in December and then full council in January 2024.

Leader of BCP Council, Cllr Vicki Slade, said: “The Three Towns Alliance has been clear that our residents sit at the heart of what we do, and so it is important to demonstrate this.

“We’ve set out a new vision based on the priorities and objectives that we think will help us realise potential and build stable foundations; one that can guide us through the challenges and shape the way we can improve the lives of those who live, work, study and visit this wonderful place.

“It is crucial that this vision is shared by us all, so it is important that our residents' views feed into the strategy and help us focus our efforts in the areas they feel are most vital.”

There will be two roadshows showcasing the plans at Sainsburys in Christchurch, from 3pm to 7pm on 29th August, and in Saxon Square between 10am and 3pm on 5th October.

Residents can fill in the survey at their local library or online at haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/our-vision

The consultation will end on 22nd October.
