Last few days of trading for Barclays branch in High Street, Ringwood, as the National Federation of SubPostmasters reminds customers of its facilities
RINGWOOD Barclays customers have only a few days left to make use of their branch ahead of its permanent closure on Thursday.
As reported in the A&T, the company announced in March it would be shutting the High Street bank, along with a branch in Lymington, due to a lack of footfall.
In an email to customers in Ringwood, Barclays claimed that just 22 customers regularly visited the branch and that 88% did their banking online.
The branch will close for good on 8th June.
A spokesperson for the National Federation of SubPostmasters said the decision was “disappointing” but is reminding locals that they can find alternative banking provision at local post office branches.
These include Ringwood post office at 13-15 Christchurch Road, Parsonage Barn Lane post office at 43-45 Parsonage Barn Lane and Poulner post office at 2 Butlers Lane.
The spokesperson added: “Post offices are proving vital to retaining individual and business access to cash as the banks continue to desert the high street in order to cut costs and increase their profits.
“99% of UK personal bank and building society customers can use post office counters to withdraw cash, pay in cash and cheques and obtain balances, while 95% of small business banking customers can access their high street bank account for everyday cash banking service.”
