Covid cases steady in the New Forest with no weekly deaths




THE weekly number of new Covid cases remained stable in the New Forest this week, with no new deaths reported in the latest update.

However, in the BCP Council area, which includes Christchurch, there were seven deaths, with two in care homes, four in hospital and one at home, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The number of weekly coronavirus cases in the Forest by Tuesday was 1,336, only slightly up on last week's 1,311.

The government figures gave a rate per 100,000 people of 743.7 – below the UK's level of 938.2.

In the BCP area, weekly cases rose slightly to 3,370, up from 3,231 last Tuesday. The rate per 100,000 was 848.9.

The provisional ONS fatality figures related to Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate up to 14th January but registered up to 22nd January. They do not include local residents who may have died outside the area.
