THE New Milton Falcons’ U13 girls team continued their unbeaten indoor run in the Dorset Pairs Indoor League on Saturday with an excellent win against Poole Town U14 girls.

The Falcons batted first against accurate Poole bowling and finished their innings on 329 having started on 200.

Falcons’ opening pair Sophie Cooper and captain Olivia E ran hard and scored quickly but Poole’s Charlotte Killen (1-16) and Annabelle Logan (1-22) kept the pair’s total to 39 runs.

Second pair Lucia Hill and Kiera Tyler hit some fine shots, including a six for Hill, an outstanding smash over the head of the bowler. Strong bowling from Poole’s Lara Sheldon (2-19), including an excellent caught and bowled, meant Hill and Tyler added 42 runs to Falcon’s score.

The highest scoring batting pair for the Falcons was Ash Tye and Leah Cutler who adopted daring running between the stumps for 48 runs without losing a wicket.

In reply, Poole’s first two batting pairs were kept to a modest score by accurate Falcons bowling and fielding. All the Falcons played their part and either took a wicket, a catch or a stumping. Hill and Tye shared the wicket-keeping, Hill’s acrobatic stops saved several runs and Tye made a quick-reaction stumping.

All Falcons bowlers were accurate and gave little away including Olivia E (1-7) and Cutler (2-16), but the highlight was Kiera Tyler’s (2-4) outstanding second over which included a wicket and great caught and bowled.

Poole’s third pair Lara Sheldon and Milly Rus chased hard and scored the highest pair total of the day at an impressive 58, but it wasn’t enough. Poole Town ended on 280 to leave Falcons the winners by 49 runs.
