Developer promises new jobs in Totton with industrial buildings plan

LOCAL jobs will be created under plans for three new industrial buildings on the edge of Totton, a developer has promised.

An application has been submitted to New Forest District Council for nearly 1.6 hectares of scrubland at Little Testwood Farm in Salisbury Road, next to AFC Totton’s Testwood Stadium.

Aitchison Developments (Totton) Ltd said the structures would contain six units, offering nearly 2,250 square metres of total floorspace. Parking would be provided for 117 vehicles.

The application said: “The proposed new commercial units will fit in well with the surrounding area which is a mix of residential, industrial and commercial, and facilities associated with a football club.

“The proposed development provides much needed industrial accommodation which will offer excellent employment opportunities.

“The design will be high quality with robust materials and will ensure a positive contribution to the context.”

At least part of the land, which the application said was allocated for employment use, is owned by housebuilder Linden Homes Southern Ltd.

A decision is expected from NFDC by early April after the deadline for public comments on 17th February.
