Southern Water apologises for discoloured water in New Forest homes from Marchwood to Fawley following emergency repairs at Nursling

Parts of the New Forest many have discoloured tap water following emergency repairs.

Areas from Marchwood to Fawley may be experiencing issues this morning (Friday), the Southern Water said, due to an issue which happened during emergency repairs to a leaking valve in Redbridge Lane, Nursling, around 10pm last night.

The company said: “This incident has disturbed harmless sediment within the network, leading to the temporary discoloration.

“To clear the discoloration, please run your cold water tap at a medium flow until it’s clear.”

It added: “In the meantime, we recommend avoiding washing clothes until the water runs clear to prevent any potential staining.

“We will be delivering bottled water to customers on our priority services register.”
