FORMER Radio 2 breakfast show host Chris Evans was a surprise contestant in Monday night’s regular quiz at Walkford’s Amberwood Inn

Chris was staying at the nearby Chewton Glen Hotel and brought along some friends who competed as Faf All.

They finished on 75 points, well behind the winners who scored 101, but Chris said he thoroughly enjoyed taking part and meeting the locals.

Among them were A&T photographer Steve West and his wife Jackie who works at the paper on reception.

Their team, the Dumb Lemons, also included friend Kim Reynolds and Steve’s mum Maz.

Steve said: “He was really friendly and bought everyone peanuts when he went up to get his round in.”

Chris left Radio 2 just before Christmas and next week launches his new breakfast show on Virgin Radio.

“I did ask him why with all his money he would still want to get up at four in the morning and he said that he loves his job and was looking forward to a new challenge,” added Steve.

“He also said he loved this area and would like to live here one day but it's a bit far to commute at four in the morning!”
