Dorset’s Camp Bestival spotlights local bands
DORSET’S biggest music festival Camp Bestival is set to return to Lulworth Castle later this month with a line-up of top international acts including McFly, James Arthur, Paloma Faith and Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics.
Regarded as a top showcase for up and coming Hampshire and Dorset bands who appear alongside chart toppers and international acts, Camp Bestival is also famed for its family-friendly vibe.
Taking place from 25th to 28th July, the four-day musical extravaganza will also feature sets from The Darkness, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Orbital.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore a world of new activities including space camp, parkour, free running, football, figure drawing, wall climbing and even beekeeping, all included in the ticket price.
Camp Bestival Dorset’s co-curator Rob da Bank said: “We have officially got the best family weekend experience ever. This is your chance to treat the family to a memory-making wonder world of music, fun, food and free activities. There is literally something for everyone, so don’t hang about!”
Headlining the Endorset take-over stage are breakneck banjo punks Pronghorn along with Heathen Apostles, The Rolling Drunks, Red Hot Riot, Guns of Navarone and Millie Watson.
The main stage entertainment will begin on Friday 26th July with a headline performance from pop favourites McFly delivering 21 years of hits. Alt rock band The Magic Numbers and hip hop star Hak Baker will also take to the stage.
The fun continues on Saturday with pop queen Paloma Faith, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, The Darkness and The Amy Winehouse Band.
Bringing the festival to a close on Sunday evening will be Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics, James Arthur and festival favourite Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Families can also spend the ultimate family experience with a workout session with Mr Motivator, enjoy some uplifting kids raving with Junior Jungle, learn history with humour via Horrible Histories: Rotten Royals and jump into a set of outrageous fun with Camp Bestival stalwarts The Cuban Brothers.
Fitting into 2024’s theme, Camp Bestival will also be debuting Space Camp – an exciting new venue that is packed full of immersive experiences, workshops, performances, and demonstrations all space and science themed. Highlights include a Planetarium, try on some VR goggles, the chance to taste some real-life space food or get dressed into one of the space person costumes.
