Motorist Stuart Robinson in court over deaths of two motorcyclists Craig Smart and Simon Ashworth crash on A326 Marchwood bypass




A DRIVER has appeared in court charged in connection with the deaths of two motorcyclists in a collision on the A326 Marchwood bypass.

Stuart Robinson (70), of Rosewood Gardens, Marchwood, faces two counts of causing death by driving without due care and attention after an incident involving his Mercedes Sprinter near Twiggs Lane on 6th October 2021.

As reported in the A&T, Yamaha rider Craig Smart (38), a father-of-six from Gosport, and 49-year-old Honda rider Simon Ashworth from Warsash died from their injuries.

In a tribute statement released in the aftermath, Mr Smart’s family said: “Craig was a strong, devoted and selfless family man who always put the needs of others above his own.

“He was a loving husband, a supportive dad to his six kids, and a wonderful son and brother. He was also a brilliant mate to so many whose lives he touched.”

Southampton magistrates adjourned the case for Robinson to return to the court on 17th January 2023.
