Driver (90) killed in crash on M27 slipway
AN elderly motorist died after a car careered off the M27 slipway to Cadnam and ploughed into a tree.
The incident involving a blue Honda Jazz took place eastbound at Junction 1 of the motorway at around 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday).
Paramedics responded along with police but the driver, a 90-year-old woman from Dorset, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire force said: “Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the blue Honda Jazz in the area prior to the incident.”
In the aftermath of the collision, officers closed the off-slip for over five hours while investigators examined the scene.
Motorists were urged to use alternative routes, with HGVs directed to Junction 2 at Ower for access to the A35 and A337.
