Driver clocked at 79mph in speed crackdown on 30mph Ashurst road

POLICE carrying out speeding crackdowns on a main road through Ashurst caught one driver travelling at 79mph on the 30mph route.

The offending driver was clocked at more than two-and-a-half times the limit as Totton-based roads policing officers checked the A35 Lyndhurst Road, outside Co-op, on Wednesday and Thursday.

A local police Facebook post said afterwards: “On both evenings they have issued several tickets to drivers who have been speeding over the 30mph limit.

“Including this one driver who was stopped for doing 79mph! They will of course be going to court.

“Thanks again to all of you who do keep our roads safe by sticking to the speed limits across the Forest.”

Facebook users took to the comments section to express their dismay at the high speed reading.

One wrote: “Should get a ban. These are the same people who will knock down livestock.

“Selfish idiots with no appreciation for anything but themselves.”
