Driver dies following collision on A35 Lyndhurst Road at Roeshot Hill
A MOTORIST has died following a collision on the A35 near Christchurch after it is believed he fell ill at the wheel.
Paramedics and police responded to the single-vehicle incident which took place as the casualty, a man in his 50s from Eastleigh, drove along Lyndhurst Road at Roeshot Hill around 12.50pm yesterday (Monday).
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area as the busy stretch of road between the Lyndhurst roundabout and Station Road at Hinton Admiral was closed for more than two hours.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and very sadly a man aged in his 50s from the Eastleigh area in Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It is believed he suffered from a medical episode. His next of kin has been informed and the coroner has been notified.”
