Driver seriously injured after van flips off A31 by Stoney Cross, near Ringwood

A MOTORIST was badly hurt after a van flipped on the A31 near Ringwood.

Firefighters had to free the casualty following collision involving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which took place shortly after 4pm last Friday evening on the eastbound carriageway near Stoney Cross.

After being released from the cab by the crews from Ringwood, Totton, Redbridge and Cosham, the 34-year-old man from East Sussex was handed over to paramedics.

He was taken by ambulance with what were described by Hampshire police as serious injuries.

Delays of up to 70 minutes were reported as all eastbound lanes were blocked at Stoney Cross while the incident was dealt with.

By 6pm, the carriageway had been closed as crews worked at the scene.
