Driver Alan Bloomer killed trying to cross A31 near Stoney Cross suffered multiple injuries, inquest hears




A DRIVER killed while trying to cross the A31 near Stoney Cross suffered multiple injuries, an inquest heard.

Alan Bloomer (27), of Bellevue Road, Southampton, was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision with two cars around 6.40pm on 14th January.

As reported in the A&T, he had been driving a silver Ford Focus which struck the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway near Hangersley Hill before continuing along the A31.

Stopping near the Rufus Stone Esso petrol station, Alan left the vehicle and crossed to the westbound side of the carriageway where the collision took place.

The cause of death, which is still to be investigated, was read out during a hearing opened at Winchester Coroners’ Court.

A full inquest is due to take place at the same court on 10th August.

Alan’s brother John previously paid tribute on behalf of his devastated family, saying: “He was deep down a lovely person, but has struggled with life over time.

“To anyone over the years who was kind to my brother, I am eternally grateful.

“I pray he’s at peace. I want him to never be forgotten.”

The road was closed in both directions for about nine hours as police launched an investigation into the incident.
