Elderly driver taken to hospital after collision with minibus in Barton Court Avenue




AN elderly car driver was hospitalised after a crash with a minibus carrying nine people in Barton yesterday afternoon (Monday).

The incident took place in Barton Court Avenue just before 3.30pm, with the force of impact causing the Nissan Micra to plough into a hedge.

Paramedics assessed the female driver, who is in her 80s, before she was taken to hospital as a precaution.

None of the nine of the Peugeot minibus’s occupants was hurt, according to a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.

Firefighters from New Milton and Dorset helped ensure the scene was safe.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.28pm to Barton Court Avenue in Barton-on-Sea to reports of a car which was in collision with a minibus, causing the car to go into a hedge.

“The driver of the car, an elderly woman, was sent to hospital as a precaution.”
