POLICE have launched a probe into a rash of fly-tipping in the New Forest that included the apparent remnants of a cannabis factory.

Soil, heaters and fans, along with remains of the class B drug, were among the pile of waste discovered abandoned in the King’s Hat Inclosure car park, off Beaulieu Road in Brockenhurst, last Friday night.

The find was reported to Forestry England, which is investigating it alongside officers from Hampshire police.

A post on the Waterside Police Twitter account urged people to “rat on a rat” by getting in touch if they can help trace the offenders.

“Recent fly-tipping in Beaulieu being investigated by @newforestdc and Waterside team,” the tweet said.

“If you have knowledge of persons and vehicles involved in fly-tipping call @HantsPolice in confidence on 101.”

Forestry England is investigating another fly-tipping incident that was reported to the authority on Saturday morning.

This involved bags containing household waste, building materials and carpets, among other things, being found on land in Bull Hill, Pilley.

A spokesperson for FE said both fly-tips, which together weighed a total of 900kg, had been removed by its workers by the end of Monday.

People expressed their disgust on Facebook after Bull Hill was again struck by fly-tippers the day after the previous dump had been cleared.

On Tuesday night photos were posted, showing a sofa and several waste bags littering the site.

One angry user commented: “Disgusting! These people have no respect for our beautiful countryside. Totally mindless.”
