DURLSTON Court School claimed top prizes in the 2019 Independent Schools Inland Sailing Championships at Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre, Reading.

Durlston entered four RS Fevas helmed and crewed by John Cameron and Sean Jardine in the U11 division, Harry West and Dan Vaughan, Max Tait and Jacob Cross and Freya England and Evie Cameron in the U13 division.

The Forest school started the event well as John and Sean, who were racing together for the first time, worked together fantastically to finish first in the U11 category. The three U13 division teams also had success on the water.

After several close races that included RS Feva teams from around the country, Harry and Dan clinched first place while Max and Jacob finished second and Freya and Evie claimed fourth.

A spokesperson for the school thanked Royal Lymington Yacht Club and Salterns Sailing Club for their continued support.

They also acknowledged coaches Mark Jardine and Simon Cameron, Nicola and David West, Simon and Kate Cross, Alistair and Charlotte Tait, Philippa and Mark Vaughan, Charlotte and Simon England who have all been an essential part of the children’s success.
