Elizabeth goes to great lengths for fundraiser

A HORDLE Primary School pupil had her waist-length locks chopped to raise £355 for a charity making wigs for children and young people with hair loss.

Ten-year-old Elizabeth Jaeger, who lives in Ashley, grew her hair for more than a year before undergoing the radical cut at Pretty Soul hairdressers in aid of the Little Princess Trust charity.

Her 10in locks will now be used to create a wig for a child affected by hair loss.

Elizabeth said: “So many girls lose their confidence when they lose their hair. I wanted to be able to stop that, for at least one girl.”

Her mum Victoria added: “I am unbelievably proud of my daughter. She has spent a long time growing and looking after her hair. She has given a very special gift and raised more money than she ever thought possible.”

The Little Princess Trust was established in 2006, and has supplied more than 8,000 wigs to young people as well as investing around £5m into ground-breaking childhood cancer research.

Family friend Diane Aldridge said: “Elizabeth was inspired by one of her friends who grew her hair and then donated it to the Little Princess Trust.

“She normally likes to have her hair at shoulder length but she grew it for more than a year and took really good care of it and avoided certain conditioners to keep it as healthy as possible.”
